Party Poppin ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Party Poppin mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App. By using Party Poppin, you agree to this policy.
Party Poppin is for adults 18 and older only. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account info: username, email address, password (hashed — we never see it in plaintext)
- Profile info: display name, date of birth, profile photo, bio
- Optional profile details: ethnicity, sexuality, relationship status, smoker/drinker status, DTF preference — these are entirely optional and visible only to you unless you choose to share
- Content you post: photos, videos, captions, check-ins, event details, public chat messages
- Venue submissions: venue name, address, and details you submit for review
- Feedback: complaints or compliments you submit through the app
Information collected automatically:
- Location data: precise GPS location when you use the map or check in to venues. We only collect location while the app is in use (not in the background). Location is used to show you nearby venues and is stored temporarily with check-ins.
- Device info: device type, operating system version, push notification token
- Usage data: which features you use, when you open the app, interactions with posts and venues
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and operate the Party Poppin service
- Show you relevant venues, events, and content near you
- Enable social features: following, messaging, check-ins, posts
- Send push notifications for activity on your account (you can disable these)
- Verify you are 18+ at account creation
- Improve the app and fix bugs
- Respond to support requests and feedback
- Enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as follows:
- Publicly by design: your username, profile photo, public posts, and check-ins are visible to other app users. You control your privacy settings.
- Service providers: we use Supabase (database and authentication), Expo (push notifications), and Mapbox (maps). These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect it.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers: if Party Poppin is acquired or merged, your data may transfer as part of that transaction.
4. Location Data
Party Poppin requests access to your location only while the app is in use. We use this to:
- Show venues and events near you on the map
- Record your location when you check in (stored with your check-in record)
- Improve location accuracy of venue listings
We do not track your location in the background, sell location data, or share precise location with third parties except as described above.
5. Sensitive Information
Optional profile fields including ethnicity, sexuality, and relationship status are collected solely to personalize your profile experience. This information is:
- Entirely optional — you are not required to provide it
- Stored securely in our database
- Not shared with advertisers
- Deletable at any time by updating your profile or deleting your account
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data as long as your account is active. When you request account deletion:
- Your account enters a 30-day grace period during which it can be recovered
- After 30 days, your profile, posts, messages, and associated data are permanently deleted
- Some data may be retained in backup systems for up to 90 days after deletion
- Anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., venue visit counts) may be retained indefinitely
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot see your password
- Authentication tokens stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain)
- Row-level security on our database so users can only access their own data
No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: update your information through your profile settings
- Deletion: delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting us
- Opt-out: disable push notifications through your device settings or in-app notification settings
- Location opt-out: revoke location permission in your device settings (some map features will be unavailable)

Party Poppin is strictly for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data. If you believe a minor is using the app, please contact us at support@partypoppin.app.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through a push notification or in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
